    i made it a rule that if the pvc isn't just shielding stuff or used in a junk project it gets put in the scrap pile give me pex fittings and pipe and forget having issues and an off taste in my water from styrene leaching

    My plumbing instructor sometimes replaces the rubber in a press fitting with sodder and heats it up if he's in a tight spot. He said he's installed some in mechanical settings that are still there 5 years later so it seems like a good afro engineered solution.

    Bc they added extra insulation in these heaters since that house was built. I had the same issue at my own house. THANK YOU EPA and politicians

    That trim got destroyed lol I understand he’s not a carpenter, but here’s a trick, caulking. Works wonders. Next time apply some caulking to nail holes or damages on trim gaps etc. won’t disappoint

    Call me a crazy but I'd use SharkBite poly adapters, and that would be for emergency repairs only, but the poly connections can't be warrantied. Very nice and commendable work tho

    Mine leaked BECAUSE plumber's putty was used. Just because somethings been around a long time doesn't mean it can't be improved upon. I would go with the silicone gasket. Plumbers putty needs to go the way you buggy whips and horseshoes.

    The expansion tank can’t be supported by the piping it’s connected to. Should have had a strap around the expansion tank to support it by code

    Always replace the gasket is good advice. I carry an o ring and flat gasket kit that has every gasket known to man in my truck. It cost 50$ on Amazon and it’s paid for itself 20x over. FYI the prv will leak if no replace gasket.

    It's electrolysis. 2 dissimilar metals create electrolysis. I would solder becouse I have seen pro press blow and visited a job that was flooded out from pro press.
